The current regulations on labelling allergens in food came into effect on 13 December 2014, and apply to all businesses where food is served. Previously businesses serving loose foods (ie those without packaging), didn’t have to provide information about allergens that they may contain. Under the new legislation, food businesses (which include any out of school clubs where food is provided) now have to provide information to consumers about the 14 allergenic ingredients on the regulatory list.
